First Class 2022
The amount of information was truly daunting and overwhelming. While the days were long, the excellent presentation of the material deepened my understanding of classical dance. It was especially helpful to watch the videos with pedagogical commentary by Janet Springer.
CDA is a USA nonprofit partnering internationally to promote excellence in the training of dancers.
OUR MISSION is to support artistic effort and output by providing pedagogical resources to improve ballet training outcomes. By presenting authoritative material and teaching artists, CDA makes the formal vocabulary and the "Teaching Method of Classical Dance" more accessible to ballet instructors, as well as performers, creators, and spectators of dance.
SINCE 2002, CDA has created and conducted teacher’s courses in classical dance, and has brought world-class experts directly to the dance community. CDA has produced the International Youth Ballet Festival, and debuted the first Character Dance and Historical Dance teacher’s courses in the USA at the Baryshnikov Arts Center. Since 2016, CDA has trained teachers at the Ana Köhler School of Dance in Lisbon, Portugal.
